For this blog post I have composed a podcast that discusses the above YouTube clip. After watching the clip listen to the podcast in which I highlight some of the key points in the Clip.

  1. I agree with Nova. This video clip does offer a great deal of insight into young people's thoughts and feelings about the Internet. What struck me was the question that one of the young boys asked about why he should have to go to school and be bored when all of the information in the world is available on the Internet.

It seems that the young boy in the clip might be on to something. Sugata Mitra, in over a decade of research, has found that young people from New Delhi to Turin are capable of teaching themselves all manner of things given a computer with an Internet connection. For a very entertaining and informative discussion on his research, go to the following URL:

Sugata Mitra's research highlights that young people are capable of so much more than our current education system gives them credit for and that is why I believe, students, like the young boy from the clip I mentioned earlier, disengage from formal education. As educators, we need to use the Internet and its fast, fun, visuals to engage these students and nurture their ability to organize their own learning. If we don’t, we might just find ourselves out of a job.
